These tasty rum balls are made by combining vanilla wafer crumbs, nuts, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, rum and corn syrup. They may be dipped in melted chocolate or rolled in powdered sugar.
1. Place vanilla wafers in a heavy plastic (freezer) bag and crush into crumbs.
2. Mix vanilla wafer crumbs, walnuts, powdered sugar, cocoa, rum and Karo syrup together.
3. Chill for 1 hour.
4. Shape into small balls.
5. Melt chocolate morsels and vegetable shortening together.
6. Dip Rum Balls in melted chocolate and roll them in chocolate sprinkles.
7. You can skip #5 and #6 and roll them directly in powdered sugar, if you wish.
Notes:
These can be made ahead of time and frozen. Very Yummy!
