This warm, winter-time drink has red wine simmered with whole spices in a sugar syrup, combined with orange and lemon concentrates and citrus fruit slices.

  • Servings: 20


3 cups Sugar
1½ cups Water
Handful of Whole Cloves
5-7 sticks Cinnamon
1 gallon Hearty Red Wine
3× 12-oz cans Frozen Orange Juice Concentrate
1× 6-oz can Frozen Lemon Juice Concentrate
4 Oranges, thinly sliced
1 Lemon, thinly sliced


Cook the sugar, water, cloves and cinnamon sticks in a saucepan over medium heat, uncovered, for 15 minutes to make a syrup. Pour the wine into a large pot; add the syrup, orange and lemon juice concentrates, and orange and lemon slices, then let simmer until heated through. Remove whole spices with a slotted spoon before pouring into heat-proof glasses or mugs to serve.
