Holiday Pear Pie

This simple pie is flavored with cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg. The fresh pears are perfectly mild for this tasty and beautiful pie.
Ingredients
- 6 ripe pears
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp ground cloves
- 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 cup corn starch
- Juice of half a lemon
- 5 pats butter
- Pie crust, prepared or homemade

Prepare a standard 9 inch pie pan with one half of crust. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and place rack in center of oven. Core and slice pears, place in a large bowl then add sugar, cornstarch and spices. Toss pears and add lemon juice. Pour pie mixture into prepared pie pan and spread evenly. Place butter evenly over mixture. Place second pie crust over mixture, pinch edges of pie crust around outside of pie pan then cut away excess. Cut vents into top crust. Place pie on a cookie sheet and place on rack in center of oven. Bake 35 minutes, reduce heat to 300 degrees, bake for another 15 minutes. Top of pie should be a nice golden color.
