Method
Soften yeast in lukewarm water. Scald milk; add butter, sugar and salt; pour into large bowl and cool to lukewarm. Add 1 cup flour and beat well. Add yeast mixture and eggs. Mix well. Add enough flour to make moderately soft dough. Turn out on lightly floured board. Knead until smooth and satiny. Place in lightly greased bowl, cover and let rise until doubled. Punch down. Let stand 10 minutes. Divide dough into 3 portions. Shape each into a round. Place rounds in form of 3-petaled flower on greased baking sheet, flattening and shaping slightly. Brush lightly with melted margarine. Let rise until nearly doubled. Bake in 350 degree oven about 35 minutes or until done. (Cover loaf with foil towards end of baking time, if necessary, to prevent overbrowning.) Cool on wire rack. When cool, glaze lightly with a thin confectioners' sugar icing. Garnish with blanched almonds and candied cherries. Makes 1 three-petaled loaf.
Notes: This is a beautiful cake for special occasions. Can be served with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
