
This meringue torte is sweetened with both white and brown sugar, and has ground cinnamon for flavor.
In large bowl, beat egg whites to soft peaks with a mixer. Carefully add cream of tartar, vanilla, brown/white sugars and cinnamon. Beat until mixture is stiff and glossy. Fold in walnuts. Using a cake pan, outline two circles on wax paper. Slide a long cookie sheet underneath the wax paper. Gently spoon meringue mixture onto the two circles. Bake in a pre-heated, 250 degree oven for 2 hrs. Turn off heat but let meringues cool inside the oven. Fill bottom layer with some of the unsweetened whipped cream, stack layers and spread whipped cream all over top layer. Garnish with red hot candies.
