Pecan halves are dipped in egg white, then coated with a red & green colored, cinnamon-flavored sugar mixture, then baked to toast.
Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Mix together the egg white and water until frothy. In another bowl, mix the granulated sugar, the red and green sugars, cinnamon sugar, and salt.
Dip the pecans in the egg white-water mixture, then roll in the sugar mixture to coat well. Or, place the sugar mixture in a zip-locking plastic bag. Then put the pecans in the bag and shake until well-coated. Place the pecans on an ungreased shallow baking pan or cookie sheet.
Bake at 300 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes, stirring and turning them every 15 minutes.
Notes:
This is recipe that has always made every year with my mom. I decided last year to add some holiday cheer. That's why it has the name and the colored sugars. It makes perfect holiday dessert.
